- Feel emotional numbness, confusion, or depressed.
- Feel helpless because you could not prevent the assault.
- Have nightmares or flashbacks about the assault.
- Think that you did something to cause the accused to target you.
- Feel embarrassed about telling your family and friends.
- Feel any or all of the above, whether you were physically injured or not.
Get Help
Being the victim of a crime is not your fault. It is important to tell someone you trust and to report the crime to police. Reporting to the police helps you receive the support you need following the crime, may result in the apprehension of the assailant, and contributes to the overall safety of the Tulane Community.
If you are experiencing any of the reactions listed above, please contact Case Management and Victim Support Services at (504) 314-2160 to meet with a member of our team to discuss what victims support services are available to you.
Also, meeting with a counselor to discuss your experience is beneficial. You can call and schedule an appointment with a counselor at The Counseling Center (504) 314-2277.
