Short-Term Accommodations: Support for Temporary Illness or Injury

Tulane University recognizes that students with temporarily disabling conditions that are a result of injuries, surgeries, or short-term medical conditions may need to access services and resources.  Examples of temporary disabilities may include, but are not limited to: broken limbs, hand injuries, concussions, or short-term impairments following surgery or medical treatments.

Potential Short-Term Accommodations

Academic accommodations are approved on a case-by-case basis with faculty approval.  Examples of academic accommodations which may be available include:

  • Professor notification
  • Notetaking assistance
  • Audio recording lectures
  • Extended testing time
  • Test proctoring

Non-academic accommodations may include:

  • On-campus golf cart transportation on Uptown campus
  • Handicapped parking permit
  • Housing accommodations as space is available

Accessing Short-Term Accommodations

Students can contact Case Management and Victim Support Services by phone, email, in person, or by completing an online reporting form.  During business hours, you can call (504) 314-2160, email srss@tulane.edu, or stop by the Lavin-Bernick Center (LBC) Suite G02.  Our office hours are Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
